Akira started his career in the Sumitomo Bank in 1967, where he was a Managing Director from 1998 to 1999. Then, he successively worked as a top management in a lot of companies, especially financial institutions, including Daiwa Securities SB Capital Market, Sony, Fuji Fire and Marine Insurance and AIG Japan. Most recently, he was the Governor of Japan Bank for International Cooperation from 2016 to 2018. He is serving as a Board Director for various Japanese companies including FOOD & LIFE COMPANIES.
